Women
Resist War and Occupation
Women
in Black International Conference
Jerusalem, 12-16 August 2005
Welcome
to the English page of the Online Women in Black International Conference.
We know that many of our sisters cannot travel to be with us in Jerusalem,
and we want to make sure every woman possible can participate. We
hope that you will feel connected to those of us in Jerusalem as you
use this site!
There
are four sections on this site that you can use to connect to the conference
in Jerusalem, and other Women in Black around the world.
- Conference
Video and Audio: Many of the sessions of the conference in Jerusalem will
be made available via digital video and audio files which can be downloaded.
If you click on the Conference Video and Audio
link above, you will be taken to a page that will explain how to get the files
and the program to read them, and links to where the files are being stored.
- Political
Exhibition: Women from around the world have sent posters, brochures, and
other political materials to Jerusalem for an exhibition. We will post photos
of as many of these documents as possible. In addition, if you have digital
documents that you would like posted, such as copies of posters, graphics,
and hand-outs your vigil has used, please send them to exhibit@womeninblack.org
and we will post them as well.
- The Conference
Blog: A 'blog,' which is a type of interactive diary on the internet, has
been set up for the conference. There, women attending the conference will
post short thoughts, and women anywhere in the world can write responses and
converse with each other. Posts will be made in many languages, with translations
if possible. If you click on the
The Conference Blog link above, you will be taken to the main blog page.
To make or read comments on a post, click on the word "comments"
beneath the post. There is no registration necessary, and you do not have
to use your real name (although we would like to know where you are from,
if you feel safe telling us). Please keep your comments respectful towards
each other and behave in a sisterly manner. You may comment in any language.
- Comments
to the Conference: If you would like to send a message to the conference,
such as a comment on a statement you have seen in the video, you may send
an email to jerusalem@womeninblack.org.
We will print up these comments and display them at the conference, and they
will also be posted online. Messages will be posted in the language in which
they are written, and if possible we will make translations into other languages
available. Please feel free to write in your own language.
We are very
much in need of women who can do translations for us, between English, French,
Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Hebrew, Serbo-Croatian, and any other languages. If
you would be willing to do this, please write to jerusalem@womeninblack.org.
Translations do not need to be professional; they need to be comprehensible.
Any support in this would be greatly appreciated!
